Our frames are made from quality sustainably grown hardwoods from well managed American forests which are FSC certified (Forest Stewardship Council) or our local Urban-Harvested hardwoods saved from being turned into worthless mulch, properly sized and kiln dried and used for your furniture thus allowing forest grown trees to stand. We use steel screws and fasteners as well as non-toxic natural based glues and safe low VOC wood finishes. Our Bean Organic line cushioning is made from 100% natural latex foam rubber which provides superior comfort and support and is the most long lasting and least toxic of any cushioning material. Our natural latex foam rubber is an environmentally friendly renewable resource that is naturally harvested from rain forest rubber trees, actually the sap collected from the "Hevea Brasilienses" and will outlast all toxic synthetic petroleum based urethane foams, often 20 years or more at which time the cushions and batting can the be safely biodegraded in a landfill. We use a natural hemp or jute covering for our steel base springs and tight back springs, then a sturdy layer of 100% natural latex foam rubber, several layers of pure organic cotton and wool batting for cushioning and then secure everything with a barrier wrap of organic cotton sheeting. Finally the piece is tightly upholstered with our special Hemp fabrics, Eco-option designer fabrics or customer provided fabric.
